1991, August 18th, July 9th on the Lunar Calendar, Rebekah was born. Growing up in Shenzhen Guangdong, she has been seeing the changes and growth in the Greater Bay Area, you should say that she's a typical Canton slash city girl. But like all her other Asian fellows, she grew up in a strict, well-structured, and pre-planned life. Every step of her life choice had to be precisely measured to fit into her and her family's long-term successful goals. She was not always obedient when it came to following the orders from her parents, but she has always known and felt the love from them.

She started exploring self-empowerment in college. The context here should be filled in. She attended boarding school for most of her secondary school life (middle and high school). So, attending university in another city was nothing but the best opportunity for self-discovery. However, there's a twist: this university was not the university she chose; there's no need to indulge in the details here; let's say her family wanted the best for her at that moment. This was the seed.

During her time at the university, she joined a band; she did public singing performances and traveled by herself and with her friends to many places in or out of town. She also explored relationships and friendships in a deeper level, including identity and sexuality. All these experiences gave her a sense of self-understanding, and more than that, she gained the ability to cope with different situations. It is not that she doesn't get love from her parents; it is just not the love she needed the most during that period of time. Therefore, she learned self-love.
